I believe I hear them calling

From the fields just over the way

Voices that I seem to remember

Though not so familiar today

I thought I would never forget

All the faces I hold so dear

Perhaps if you would just whisper

Your name in this old cloudy ear

Something will caress my fading memory

And wipe away this agonizing fear

of not always knowing your relationship

And the joy felt throughout the years

So..

Please never shy from telling me why

You will love me still way over here

And will take the time now and then

To find me waiting for you to be near

Peepers

Peepers

Nightly gentle serenade of peepers, eastern ponds delighted by the chirps and chatter

Tiny gospel singing choirs enchanting us in the pews

They are night time spring harbingers, promisors of warm day wishes..

Cycles of life that bless the beholden..

Open windows allow small voices, with wind,

to visit from across the way

Farewell long winter days, goodbye to silent nights

Welcome to dusks accompanied melodic dew

Marks

Across the way I walked today
my footprints in the snow
I left them there among the trees
hoping that you would know
That my steps have lead you there
See what I left to remind
Each print a recent memory
Of things I’ve left behind

Winter Blues

Winter blues

Look for gotten melodies
Some old and some not so new
Days spent quietly listening to
clouds humming deepening blues

Memories strumming faded tunes
Not just for me or for you
Quiet mics and silent chords
Sung by a dwindling few

Days renew the faintest whisper
of ways one takes a chance
Reminding all who dare to try
Some music’s not made for dance
